St. Peter's will be celebrating a Solemn High Mass on Wednesday, September 14, for the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
This feast commemorates the finding of the True Cross upon which Our Lord was crucified by St. Helena in 326 during her pilgrimage to Jerusalem. The feast was celebrated as part of a two-day festival in honor of the dedication of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in which the Holy Cross was brought outside of the church for public veneration.
This feast also comes on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the Motu Proprio "Summorum Pontificum", promulgated by His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI, easing the restrictions on the use of the Traditional Mass.
The celebrant of the Mass will be Rev. Anthony J. Manuppella, KHS, pastor of St. Peter's, the deacon Mass will be Rev. Robert L. Sinatra, summer apostolate st St. Peter's, and the subdeacon will be Rev. David Rivera, parochial vicar of St. Peter's.
